Grand Official Opening of PETRONAS Twin Towers

The launch ceremony in 1999 that put the Petronas Twin Towers in world spotlight set a new benchmark for projects of all kinds and for the spectacular New Year Countdowns that one sees these days including at Burj Khalifa.

They were the World's Tallest Building from its completion in 1998 till 2004 and still are the World's Tallest Twin Buildings till today.

Concept / Strategy

"A Vision Realized" coined to showcase the towering ambition of our country to become a developed Nation and to prove to the world that we are equally capable of achieving great things. An outdoor evening celebration.

Engineering feat

Designing and erecting the worlds largest sky screen that was suspended below the sky bridge between the Towers to showcase The journey, Malaysia's Rich Cultural heritage, its peoples, its Vision etc.

To light up 88 floors of the Twin Towers, (220,000 volts of electricity was generated to power projection and lighting systems)

Technologies

The use of high end large frame multi media presentation to project a narrative onto the facade of the towers and sky screen.

Special effects

Specially choreographed time coded lighting /projections and pyrotechnics display to synchronize with the musical score specially produced for the events culmination.

Production crew

Approximately 500 pax. Comprising of Malaysians and a host of International specialized service providers from Italy, Australia, United Kingdom, USA , Singapore, France, Hong Kong, Germany & Japan

Targeted audience

Primary

  • Malaysians throughout the country
  • Approximately 1000 invited guests and dignitaries
  • The masses including International Travelers who were in Malaysia gathered around the vicinity (approximately 500,000) to witness the grand opening.

  • The world at large
    (The event was carried live through all electronic media in Malaysia and several other Countries)

Concept / Strategy

The concept of "Reflections" encompassed a nostalgic journey of the progress and development of Malaysia since independence its cultural diversity, harmony and achievements. The main elements of "One Rhythm", "One Voice" and "One Dance" was tastefully portrayed through a live concert on a floating stage by a host of leading vocal artiste, Instrumentalists and cultural troupes reflecting the multi cultural diversity of Malaysia's plural ethnic society.

Engineering feat

Designed and constructed the largest floating stage in Malaysia held at the Putrajaya Lake Club, the venue for an evening celebration.

Technologies

Long throw high end projection systems flown in from the UK to project a documentary of the landmark achievements of Malaysia and CCD broadcast to cross feed performances on a giant screen acting as a backdrop on the floating stage.

Special effects

Aerial Fireworks and Special effects for countdown.

Production crew

A total production crew of 110 including projection specialist from UK, Film development crew from Italy.

Targeted audience

Residents of Putrajaya (The new Administrative Capital of Malaysia), its neighboring Town Councils and Media representatives.

Official Opening of Telecom Tower (Malaysia's Telecommunications Company) by the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia

Concept / Strategy

The concept "Another Dimension" aptly communicated the migration of it services to a new era of modernization with the opening of its new Head Office . The first of its kind with its unique architectural design and state of the art amenities symbolized the futuristic dimension striving to become a world class telecommunication provider.

Main components

A 3D animated fly-thru by a robotic character expounding the salient features of the new head office climaxing with the appearance of the The Menara Telekom (Telecom Tower) model. Two Robotic characters on stilts (The ROBOSTILTS flown in from the USA ) made a grand appearance and assisted the Honorable Prime Minister in the ceremonial opening.

Technologies

Production of a 3-D animated Fly-thru showcasing the tower's architecture and design.

Special effects

Pyrotechnics and special effects to enhance the launch.

Production crew

Approximately 100 including the two Robostilts (Robotic characters from USA)

Targeted audience

Malaysians, Industry players, Dignitaries, invited guests and media representatives

Official Launch of Alamanda Putrajaya (Putrajaya's first shopping complex) by The Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Concept / Strategy

The unique concept of "The Sense of Scent" was coined likening it to the scent of the flower (Alamanda from which the complex was named) that draws the people to it. For the ceremonial act the Prime Minister locked in the final petal to signify the complex opening.

Main components

  • A Cirque du Soleil style production (The Balagan Troupe) were flown in from the USA to entertain the crowd. We choreographed a show for the launch.
  • Live performances by leading local Divas
  • A fashion extravaganza by a leading Malaysian designer
  • A themed grand sit down dinner for the invited guests.

Technologies

High end projection & Laser systems were used to color wash the complex in multi colors and designs.

Special effects

Pyrotechnics and special effects to enhance the launch.

Production crew

120 pax including the Balagan Troupe from USA.

Targeted audience

Concept / Strategy

"Journey through the mind"

Main components

Motorola Web w/o Wires Trade Launch. - Indoor - Dinner Event
Constructed a huge human head with LED plasma screens embedded as lenses. The head opened up to unveil a large screen which was used to screen a 3D animation of the Journey. This AV production incorporated the use of Intelligent lighting systems, surround sound audio equipment with special effects and pyrotechnics.

Motorola Web w/o Wires Consumer Roadshow - Outdoor - Exhibition and Consumer Roadshow in CBD
The main component for the exhibition at the consumer roadshow was the construction of a specially designed cylindrical "Dome" for consumers viewing of the 3D animation encompassing a "virtual journey" through the mind of the consumers.

Specially designed 3D viewing dome/glasses to experience a Virtual journey.

Indoor pyrotechnics and special effects to enhance the launch.

Official Launch of TGV (Tanjong Golden Village) Cinema Complex

Official Launch of Tanjong Golden Village Cinema Complex by International Celebrity Mel Gibson in conjunction with the screening of his latest movie "Conspiracy Theory" for the first time in Malaysia.

The launch was specially tailored to include Mel Gibson playing the traditional drums to a rhythmic score specially composed for the event.

Logistical feat

Concept / strategy

With the concept of "Tower of Lights" the entire structure was bathed in multiple shades of light, patterns, projections and pyrotechnics choreographed to a specially produced music score.

Main Components

The anniversary celebrations marked the launch of Menara KL (KL Towers ) home page using infinity panels/ multiple/ time tunnel effects.

Technologies

Use of STX searchlights flown in from France and lasers to project images and color wash the structure. Creating a stage and backdrop of infinity / multiple/ time tunnel effects.

Special effects

Pyrotechnics, aerial fireworks, large frame lasers and 7K lights for special effects.
